Corporate Team Building in Scarborough: Why Archery Works
Corporate team building · Scarborough
Book lanes, not boardrooms
Archery combines focus, communication, and just enough friendly competition to bring a team together — without anyone breaking a sweat in their dress shoes. Here's why HR managers across the GTA are trading the conference room for the shooting line.
at work
A 2025 Gallup survey put employee engagement at just under a third — and found that generic team building exercises ranked among the least effective ways to move that number. Trust falls and balloon towers feel forced, and your team knows it. What works is shared challenge: everyone starts from zero, nobody has an inherent advantage, and progress is visible on the target face.

The conference room
Why traditional team building falls flat
- Trust falls and "two truths and a lie" have been done to death
- Hierarchy stays intact — the same people talk, the same people don't
- No visible progress, so nothing to celebrate together
- Phones come back out within ten minutes
The shooting line
Why archery works instead
- Your VP and your summer intern both pick up a bow for the first time
- Standing side by side creates cross-department conversation — Marketing to Ops, Finance to IT
- Built-in celebration: the first gold gets the whole group cheering
- Hands are busy holding a bow, not a screen
"I talked to people I've sat next to for two years and never really spoken to."

How to book a corporate session
Pick size and format
Up to 30 people per session, from $39.99 each for the one-hour intro — bows, arrows, targets, and coaching included. Combo events with knife throwing or airgun stations start at $69.99.
Choose your slot
Tuesday to Friday, 12–8 PM; weekends 10 AM–8 PM. Weekday afternoons are the corporate favourite — leave the office at 2, shoot for an hour, still make dinner.
Let the coaches run it
Fifteen-minute safety briefing and demo from NCCP-certified coaches, then 45+ minutes of shooting with one-on-one tips as they rotate through.
Finish with a shoot-off
Sessions usually close with a friendly group competition, then a debrief in the lounge. Bring phones for photos at the line — they end up on Slack by Monday.
From the range floor
Most corporate groups arrive nervous about looking bad in front of colleagues — the senior leaders especially. What actually happens: coaches pair people so skill levels balance out, the VP who couldn't hit the target gets a quick tip from an accounts payable clerk who picked it up fast, and now that clerk has a story they'll tell for months. Reverse-mentorship happens organically on the line, and it's one of the most powerful dynamics we see.
What HR managers ask first
How many people can take part?
Up to 30 in a single session, with back-to-back sessions for larger teams. The 20-lane range means minimal waiting — most groups cycle through the intro in under an hour.
Does the team need experience?
None. Every session opens with a safety briefing and demo, all equipment is provided, and coaches stay on the floor throughout to give individual guidance.
Can we bring catering?
Yes — boxed lunches, trays, or light refreshments in the lounge. We suggest food after shooting; it's easier to focus on the briefing with empty hands.
How far ahead should we book?
Two to three weeks, more for groups of 20+. Weekday afternoons go first. Smaller groups of 4–8 can sometimes walk in.
